Merrill Lynch has had a partnershship with Alabama for over 70 years. Partnership is the fundamental operative for leadership in the Southern Gulf States Complex of Merrill Lynch. Partnership is the way to live by and accomplish the long held Merrill Lynch Principles of Client Focus, Respect for the Individual, Teamwork, Responsible Citizenship and Integrity.
PARTNERSHIP WITH ALABAMA
David Oberman, as Director of the Southern Gulf States Complex, is privileged to lead with the Merrill Lynch offices of Birmingham, Birmingham South, Anniston, Gadsden, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Mobile, Fairhope and Dothan. The Complex has recently been expanded to include the Meridian & Tupelo, Mississippi offices as well as Pensacola, Panama City, Fort Walton, and Destin, Florida offices. It has been important for him to strengthen the Merrill Lynch presence in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida and to set the stage for the next generations. One way which we have accomplished this is through achievement. Our complex has consistently set meaningful and purposeful objectives which have enhanced our firm, our community, our workplace, and the clients we are privileged to serve. These represent significant results which would not have been possible without a solid partnership with Alabama, Florida & Mississippi, with the local communities, with our financial professionals, with our clients and with our internal leadership staff. The second way which we have accomplished that is through building an infrastructure of high quality office spaces in high quality locations where our employees can enjoy working and our clients can enjoy visiting. The most recent new office location is in beautiful Brookwood Village on Lakeshore Parkway which is the new home of one of our Birmingham offices.
PARTNERSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY
Each of the communities which we serve is unique. Our hand of partnership has extended to each of the communities in which we serve. We strive to be a good corporate citizen and so we donate to over 75 charities. We are major supporters of the Regions Charity Classic, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The Alabama Ballet and the Birmingham Business Alliance. We support athletic activities such as Auburn University, University of Alabama, Samford University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. One of the most memorable partnerships in the community followed the April 27, 2011 tornado which ripped through Tuscaloosa and all across our service area. In the months which followed, we were able to provide significant financial and human resources to these affected areas and these affected families.

With 222 Financial Advisors and 104 Support Professionals in our Southern Gulf States Complex, we consider each to be a partner in fulfilling our mission to Alabama, Missippi and Florida, to the communities in which they live and work, and to the clients which they serve. There is truly a "Power of the Right Advisor". The heart of our business is our Advisors and the enduring relationships that they build with clients. Many of our Financial Professionals have been nationally recognized by Barron's and by The National Association of Board Certified Advisory Practices. In each of these Merrill Lynch offices in each community, we strive to create an atmosphere of partnership. From the moment a client walks through the door to the moment they leave, we want them to feel that they are "privileged to do business with Merrill Lynch". This kind of client response is evident in the feedback we receive from clients. Our Southern Gulf States Complex is currently ranked among the top complexes nationally in our Service Quality Award. One of our favorite events each year is in December when we invite our clients to a holiday event such as the Alabama Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. At these events we are able to share in the joy of seeing our Client's children and grandchildren delight in the desert table and in the spectacle of a live holiday performance.
