PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Calvin has nearly 25 years of professional experience in engineering, leadership, and financial services. After a distinguished 15 year career as a United States Air Force officer he entered the financial services industry with Piper Jaffray in November 1999 and joined Merrill Lynch in June 2006. He is currently the Resident Director of the Rochester, MN office.
Calvin advises clients and families on wealth accumulation, preservation, and multi-generational transfer through the creation of individually customized wealth management strategies using a well-disciplined process. His engineering background has provided a solid foundation to understand complex issues, has prepared him to work with a team of professionals to develop solutions, and give him the understanding to implement customer-focused solutions. This process includes establishing objectives, developing a strategy to meet those objectives, implementing solutions (asset management, liability management, tax minimization, asset protection, etc.), then reviewing progress towards achieving your goals.
Calvin has a passion for giving back to the community. This is evident in his leadership in organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America (past board chair and member of the capital campaign cabinet), Rochester Art Center (past finance committee chair), Rochester Public Library Foundation (current board member), Resurrection Catholic Church (past member of the parish council), Rotary Risers (past president) and the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce (current Ambassador and graduate of their leadership program). His passion for working with non-profit organizations does not stop at the water's edge. He is a member of the Minnesota Planned Giving Council (active in two statewide committees), the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, and a board member of the Southern Minnesota chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Calvin holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) certification awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Calvin, his wife Jean, and their four children reside in Rochester, MN. They enjoy camping, gardening, and being with family and friends.
