Mark Burford joined Merrill Lynch in 2009 after spending seven years with Edward Jones, and has worked in the financial services industry since 1979. As a Merrill Lynch Assistant Vice President and Senior Financial Advisor, Mark’s goal is to be the very best in his field; He works with individual investors, business owners, and families to develop long-term financial strategies.
Having access to a wide array of specialists, Mark advises his clients on wealth accumulation, preservation, and transfer, by creating individually customized strategies for wealth management.
His four step process includes: creating objectives, establishing a strategy, implementing solutions, and reviewing the progress. Mark advises clients on portfolio development, education planning, liability management, tax minimization, and asset protection, and he specifically emphasizes retirement planning that will assure a lifetime of steady income.
Mark understands that gaining and holding onto wealth present both challenges and opportunities to each of the clients he works with. Each family and business owner has unique financial circumstances that requires individual attention. By working closely with his clients' other trusted advisors, including attorneys and accountants, Mark has a well rounded knowledge base to address his clients' tax, trust, philanthropic, and estate issues, as well as wealth transfer strategies. Because his clients have many differing areas of financial interests, Mark takes the time to listen to and educate families and business owners about their choices, and assist them in making thoughtful decisions for their current needs and aspirations.
Mark graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He received his “AAMS®” designation from the College for Financial Planning in 2007. He resides in Sunriver, Oregon with his wife Robin and has three children.
He is an active member of the Sunriver Rotary Club, Sunriver Chamber of Commerce, and Westside Church in Bend. Living in Central Oregon allows him to enjoy fly fishing, golf, and skiing.
